What is Zithromax?
The macrolide antibiotics, which include the prescription drug Zithromax, prevent bacterial growth and reproduction. Zithromax acts similarly to other macrolides (erythromycin and clarithromycin) by attaching to the bacteria's 50S ribosomal subunit.
