    According to reports, Elon Musk is setting up a team to rival the company he co-founded: OpenAI. He has even hired Igor Babuschkin, who recently left Alphabet’s DeepMind AI unit. Do you think Elon can challenge OpenAI?

    He might but let's not forget Microsoft backs OpenAI AND Microsoft is doing really well right now.

    With a proper strategy, anyone can. It would be even easy because of his ability to access enormous financial and human capital.

    Yes he can, he's really good in tech and business. Not only that, now I think he's probably the biggest influencer in business now

    Yes, because he challenged Google with OpenAI and also because he can.

    That crazy guy built a billion-dollar fintech startup, followed by an affordable rocket company, and then the world's largest EV company. Recently, he even acquired a social media platform with 350 million users and he was also one of the founding members of OpenAI. Given his track record, it's not difficult to imagine him creating something that could challenge OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, or any other major player in the tech industry.

    @dhanraj tbh he didn't have much to do with PayPal. Confinity launched PayPal in 98 and they merged with Xcom in 2000. He was CEO for five-ish months before Thiel took over and pivoted to PayPal as the primary offering. Wild to think that the IPO was only like a year after that

    @jtbg Thanks for the correction

    Yeah. He seems to have an extreme style but his track record shows that he has the habit of getting things done across different industries that are loosely related to tech.
