Categories on Product Hunt
You might have noticed we added "categories" today. Over time, "topics" became more like keywords rather than useful for goal-directed searches within specific product verticals (which is most PH searches). Categories will help us improve search and browsing, as well as eventually a lot of other downstream features.

Super interesting question. I'm of two minds – I don't think it's really necessary, given that I already don't care if something was written in Rails vs React vs Vue or whatever. I don't need to know every tool that developers used to build something.

Do you think that AI-generated comments make communities like Product Hunt a better place?
We've seen a lot of growth in AI comment generators lately – auto-creating comments and replies based on available info. Do you think apps like these are positive or detrimental to community-focused platforms like Product Hunt?

Do you think apps like these can be detrimental to community-focused platforms? What you get out of this often unlikely to actually feel authentic (or clever, or funny) – it's growth hackers using bots, "talking" to each other in a cycle of empty engagement. Many comments end up sounding mostly the same (like they were regurgitated from limited information by an AI).

We've been experimenting with this on the 'activity' tab of the homepage. No direct user contributions yet but it pulls in interactions from people you follow around discussions/comments/launches/reviews
